It is very good having a choice based lettings service on your council or association website. The problem is that not everbody is going to find your service easily. It is a fact that not all council websites are easy enough for the average user due to the volume of information.

What is choice based lettings?
Choice-Based Lettings (CBL) will be the new way to be allocated a home in social housing. Landlords such as Council, Housing Associations or Residential Social Landlords (RSL) will be adopting this new policy of bidding for the home you want. The traditional waiting list will be replaced and you will need to find the property in the area you want via websites, newsletters, local newspapers and housing offices. But what if you would like other areas of the U.K.?

Using Choice Based Lettings
The CBL scheme applies for new applicants for social housing or even existing tenants seeking a move to the same or different area.
When you register with a CBL scheme you will only be able to bid for a property of a suitable match for your circumstances. An example of this would be an applicant who was single, and without any dependant children would not be able to bid for a house with 3 bedrooms. The bidder for any property will be offered the home if they have the highest priority based upon criteria set by the landlord.
